Thinking Hard About The Holidays

Yesterday, I was having a discussion with my friend about Christmas celebrations.  I discussed how so many of us actually leave Christ out of Christmas.  As a result, many have a festive, family filled, giving holiday, but, somehow, regulate God to a mere footnote on the whole thing.  This should not surprise us.  After all, most of us actually leave God out of our day to day living completely.  My friend felt I might be overthinking the whole thing.  After all, is it not possible for people just to come together and have an honest, good time without sinning (or worrying about sin?)  The more I thought about it, the more I thought, “No, no it isn’t.”  Here’s why. Inconvenient Truths

Salutations!

Before I dive into this topic, just a quick update.  I’m super busy with work and college right now, so my updates here and on Twitter will continue to be a wee sparse.  Expect to see few videos from me on YouTube, if any, for a while!

You know, it never ceases to amaze me just how hard people will work to ignore inconvenient truths.    Inconvenient truths are those things you suspect or know, but do everything you can not to think on them because they would cause you great inconvenience.   (more…)

Jim Carrey is Wrong

Today, the above video popped into my Facebook timestream, with responses such as “So true!” and “He absolutely NAILS life!” replies.  They are hardly the only ones.  The original video has garnered over 10 million views on YouTube, with 46,000 likes and less than 700 dislikes. However, I disagree with those who applaud this one minute slice.  Below is my (lengthy/edited) response. (more…)
